Research Support Services
Research Support Services accelerates world-class research by providing expertise and technologies that empower our scientists and research community to improve human health through innovative scientific discovery.
Our Research Support Services provide a wide variety of centralized and shared services, equipment and expertise to support the research enterprise and innovation at National Jewish Health.
Integrated Bioinformation & Specimen Center
The National Jewish Health Integrated Bioinformation and Specimen Center represents an ongoing, institutionally-sponsored effort to collect and store the data, tissue, fluids and DNA on thousands of our patients who have generously agreed to participate in this program.
Leveraging the clinical phenotyping by our physicians, our internally developed research database, a pathology image database and our biorepository, we can offer our investigators and partners highly characterized information and corresponding samples for research in the full gamut of respiratory and immunologic disease. This unique resource aids in the discovery of genetic tests and biomarkers that are useful in predicting who may get a disease, the likely course of the disease and how it may be most effectively treated.

CTRC – Inflammation and Immunity Core
The CTRC is funded by a grant from the National Institutes of Health. It provides an infrastructure for the support of meritorious outpatient research directed toward studying normal human function as well as the explanation and treatment of human diseases.
The unit includes both a Nursing Core and an Inflammation and Immunology Core Lab core lab.
The Nursing Core is managed by Susan Leung, RN, and provides nursing support, patient exam rooms , Assistance / Preparation. If a researcher is interested in using the clinical services of the CTRC, they must contact Susan Leung, RN by email or at 303.398.1549 to discuss their protocol and for pricing. The Program Administrator will assist researchers with completion of the necessary forms which will be submitted to the NJH HRPP and then to the BRANY IRB.
The CTRC Inflammation and Immunology Core Lab provides patient sample processing including: RNA/DNA extractions; cell isolations (BAL, PBMC, others); serum and plasma extractions; and sputum processing, as well as assays to support investigators’ studies such as cell culture, flow cytometry, ELISPOT, ELISA, LPT, and more.
If there is interest in using the CTRC Core Lab services, please contact Trey Farmer, PhD at Farmert@njhealth.org.

Human Lung Tissue Consortium
The Human Lung Tissue Consortium is a unique research partnership dedicated to accelerating discoveries in pulmonary science. The consortium brings together investigators from across National Jewish Health and collaborating institutions to share access to high-quality human lung tissue resources that support a diverse range of research initiatives.
Through strong partnerships with organ procurement organizations, the consortium receives donated human lungs and tracheas. These invaluable donations provide researchers with an opportunity to study human lung biology in ways that are not possible through laboratory models alone, helping to advance our understanding of respiratory health and disease.
