Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Panel

Alpha-1 Antitrypsin Deficiency (AATD) is a genetic condition that may result in serious lung disease in adults and/or liver disease at any age. Clinical practice guidelines from the American Thoracic Society, European Respiratory Society, the American Association for Respiratory Care and the Alpha-1 Foundation recommend that all individuals with chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD) and all individuals with unexplained chronic liver disease should be tested for AATD.

As part of the nation’s leading respiratory hospital, National Jewish Health Advanced Diagnostic Laboratories has extensive experience developing tests that help physicians accurately diagnose complex diseases like AATD.
