DENVER - National Jewish Health welcomed Bjorn Anderson, MD, to its Division of Rheumatology in August. Dr. Anderson specializes in the diagnosis and treatment of myositis, vasculitis, Sjögren’s disease, scleroderma, rheumatoid arthritis, lupus, and other autoimmune and rheumatic diseases.

Dr. Anderson recently completed his rheumatology fellowship at Washington University in St. Louis, where his training included the care of patients with complex rheumatologic conditions and the use of musculoskeletal ultrasound. He previously completed his internal medicine residency at Washington University and earned his medical degree from Emory University School of Medicine in Atlanta.

Dr. Anderson’s clinical interests include myositis and inflammatory myopathies, such as polymyositis, dermatomyositis, idiopathic inflammatory myopathy and antisynthetase syndrome. He also treats patients with vasculitis, including granulomatosis with polyangiitis (GPA), microscopic polyangiitis (MPA) and eosinophilic granulomatosis with polyangiitis (EGPA), as well as relapsing polychondritis and a broad range of other autoimmune and rheumatologic conditions.

In addition to his clinical work, Dr. Anderson has interests in medical education, musculoskeletal ultrasound and clinical research. At Washington University, he helped develop an ultrasound curriculum for rheumatology fellows and has presented on topics, including Sjögren’s disease, macrophage activation syndrome/hemophagocytic lymphohistiocytosis and vasculitis. He has also contributed to peer-reviewed research in several areas of medicine.

Dr. Anderson is board-certified in internal medicine and received a Resident Teaching Award in 2023. He will see patients at the National Jewish Health main campus in Denver.
