Testing Blood’s Response to Foreign Substances
Trial Objectives
Researchers are conducting a study of how human blood cells work. Their goal is to examine how these cells respond to different bacteria and other foreign substances. The results of this study could help explain the processes behind inflammation and provide investigators with a valuable resource to obtain healthy blood cells. They are seeking adult participants who can donate up to approximately a pint of blood.
Who Can Participate
Nonsmoking, healthy adults aged 21-65 years. Participants must not be taking any chronic medications, cannot be pregnant, and must weigh at least 110 pounds. Participants also must be HIV negative and have negative hepatitis B surface antigen and hepatitis C serology tests, which will be provided free of cost to the participant every 6 months.

Estimated Time Commitment
One 30-minute enrollment visit. A one-hour blood draw visit every 8-12 weeks for as long as the participant is interested.
