Research of MIS-C at National Jewish Health

Investigators at National Jewish Health are collaborating with University of Iowa. The researchers are assessing whether toxins (superantigens) producing bacteria may be contributing to the features of systemic inflammation and vascular inflammation in this syndrome. Identification of microbial superantigens, as a cause of multisystem-inflammatory syndrome in children, suggest the possibility that these children may benefit from high-dose intravenous immunoglobulin therapy.
