National Jewish Health has been advancing health through patient care, research and education for more than 126 years. The strategic plan is a 10-year vision as we look to the future, building on our legacy as the leading respiratory hospital in the nation, as well as providing excellence in collaborative, multispecialty care. Our impact continues to expand through innovative care, discovery science and new ways to improve health and well-being.
Our strategic imperatives over the next 10 years include:
Continue to innovate as an academic health system
- Strengthen and grow our nationally recognized respiratory programs for adults and children.
- Support growth and excellence in collaborative multispecialty care that delivers exceptional outcomes, exemplary patient experiences and defines value-based care, including in pulmonology and respiratory , cardiology, oncology, allergy, immunology, infectious diseases, gastroenterology, rheumatology, neurology, pediatric specialties and through programs in advanced imaging and diagnostics, executive health and concierge medicine, Immediate Care and other related areas.
- Continue to grow discovery science efforts, including a focus on respiratory and immune and related diseases.
- Continue and expand efforts to transform scientific discoveries into real-world solutions that improve lives and shape the future of health care.
Maintain culture and preeminence
- Increase provider base to drive the growth of the clinical enterprise and the expansion of research capabilities with appropriate infrastructure.
- Continue to foster a collegial and collaborative culture that attracts and supports exceptional clinicians, researchers, educators and staff.
- Provide opportunities for leadership growth throughout the organization.
Invest in programs to grow the organization to serve more people and maintain financial self-sufficiency
- Expand programs focused on prevention, early detection and personalized wellness, including an ongoing commitment to being the dominant not-for-profit provider of smoking and vaping cessation in the nation.
- Generate operating margin annually from multiple successful entrepreneurial ventures.
- Make substantial efforts in commercializing intellectual property.
- Substantially increase our annual philanthropic benefit on an ongoing basis and implement a capital campaign based on the strategic plan.
