Pediatric Pulmonologist Dr. Jane Gross Joins National Jewish Health for Kids

DENVER —

Jane GrossJane Gross, M.D., Ph.D., has joined the nationally recognized pediatric pulmonary faculty at National Jewish Health for Kids. Over the last 14 years, Dr. Gross served as an active duty Army physician, reaching the rank of Lieutenant Colonel and working in a variety of roles as a physician in the U.S. Army. She previously worked at Tripler Army Medical Center, Evans Army Community Hospital, and has deployed in support of Operation Enduring Freedom-Philippines and Operation Iraqi Freedom. She comes to National Jewish Health from the Madigan Army Medical Center where she served as Chief of the Pediatric Pulmonology and Director of the Affiliate Pediatric Cystic Fibrosis Center. She will see patients at the National Jewish Health main campus.

Dr. Gross is looking forward to caring for pediatric patients with lung disease in the pulmonary medicine clinic. In addition, she is developing a Young Adult Cystic Fibrosis Clinic for patients with cystic fibrosis transitioning from pediatric to adult care. Furthermore, Dr. Gross will be developing research in an original epidemiological nontuberculous mycobacteria investigation tool called Healthcare Associated Links in Transmission of Nontuberculous Mycobacteria in Patients with Cystic Fibrosis (HALT NTM). The HALT NTM study will serve to provide a stepwise process for epidemiological investigation of health care associated transmission of nontuberculous mycobacteria among patients with cystic fibrosis identified with highly similar strains of bacteria. This research will compliment ongoing work through the Colorado Cystic Fibrosis Research and Development Program.

Dr. Gross completed her doctor of philosophy in Oral Biology at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. She received her medical degree at the Wake Forest University School of Medicine in Winston-Salem, NC, and Pediatric Residency training at Tripler Army Medical Center. She completed her fellowship in Pediatric Pulmonology at Boston Children’s Hospital.
