Psychosocial & Behavioral Health Evaluations
Your National Jewish Health doctor may request an evaluation from one of the mental health professionals.
Our evaluations are rooted in our "Care for the Whole Person" philosophy that physical and mental health are intertwined. During your evaluation, a clinician will discuss ways that psychological, emotional and relationship factors may influence how you are dealing with your medical illness. For example, patients who come to National Jewish Health often have problems with depression, anxiety, tobacco use, and work or family stressors that affect how they are managing their medical illness, and just as importantly, interfere with their ability to live the life they want to live. Our clinicians specialize in these problems and can help you understand and deal with these common psychosocial problems. This can lessen the impact of your illness on you and your loved ones.
Based on the results of your Psychosocial Evaluation, we will develop a treatment plan with you. This can include medications, individual and family therapy as well as further evaluation.
