Annual Gala in Beverly Hills Benefits Nation’s #1 Respiratory Hospital, National Jewish Health

National Jewish Health will honor industry powerhouses Harry W. Friedman, Rosenthal & Rosenthal of California Inc., and R. Douglas Smith, Smith Mandel & Associates LLP, during its annual Black & White Ball Presented by L.A. Professional Services on June 8. The men will be honored for their devotion to professional services industry and to the mission of National Jewish Health. The Black & White Ball at the Beverly Hills Hotel benefits National Jewish Health, ranked the number one respiratory hospital in the nation for 15 consecutive years by U.S. News & World Report.

For more than 30 years, L.A. Professional Services events have drawn dedicated and broad support from Los Angeles professional services industries’ leaders. This year, the 2013 Black & White Ball Honoree Committee Co-Chairs are Jeff Enoch, Rosenthal & Rosenthal of California, Inc., and Robert K. Lewin, CIT/Commercial Service. Dinner Chairs are Ronald S. Friedman, Marcum LLP; Fred F. Lionetti, Continental Business Credit, Inc.; and Debbie R. Steinberg, CIT/ New Business Development.

Harry Friedman is Executive Vice President of Rosenthal & Rosenthal of California Inc., a wholly owned subsidiary of Rosenthal & Rosenthal Inc., one of the oldest and largest privately held factoring and financing companies in the country and headquartered in New York. His responsibilities include the day-to-day management of Rosenthal’s full service West Coast office, which includes local portfolio management, client relations, and sales and marketing. In the 10 years since opening the office, Friedman has overseen the growth of his office by over a billion dollars in annual factored volume. Prior to joining Rosenthal, he served for over 25 years as a factoring executive with other leading financial institutions. He is a well-known and well-respected industry veteran with a significant sphere of influence in financing textile and fashion-related enterprises in California.

R. Douglas Smith is the Co-Founding Partner of Smith Mandel & Associates, LLP. Smith has over 35 years of experience in the certified public accounting field. His practice focus includes financial statement reporting, assurance services, internal control evaluation, succession planning, forecasts and projections of financial models, business capitalization, restructuring and financing alternatives, business mergers, and acquisition planning and structure. He has extensive expertise with private middle market companies, as well as tax planning and compliance. Smith is a well-known name and serves a wide variety of clients in apparel manufacturing and distribution, service, and other industries.
